Mining haul and access roads

Accurate's fleet was upgraded to MDG15 mine-compliant standard in 2024.

What it is

That opens work that most stabilisation contractors cannot enter: haul roads, access roads, hardstands and laydown areas on NSW coal mine sites, where mobile plant has to meet the Mine Design Guideline 15 requirements before it goes through the gate.

For a mine site services manager, that means one contractor for the pavement work that never stops: haul road maintenance, access road construction, hardstand stabilisation and dust suppression, from a Newcastle depot an hour from the Hunter coalfields.

What we deliver

Haul roads, access roads and hardstands

  1. Haul road construction and maintenance

In-situ stabilisation of the running surface to carry haul truck loads without rutting or corrugation. Rebuilding failed sections in place. Reshaping for drainage.

  2. Access roads

Sealed or unsealed light-vehicle roads, built or rehabilitated with stabilised base.

  3. Hardstands and laydown areas

Stabilised platforms for workshops, wash-downs, stockpile pads and equipment laydown, built to carry point loads and shed water.

  4. Dust suppression

Polymer and binder treatment of unsealed surfaces to reduce respirable dust and water-cart hours.

  5. Base construction

Where imported material is specified: supply, place, grade, compact.

How we work with you

Full-service and part-service

Flexible ways to engage Accurate, depending on your project requirements.

Full-service

Everything required to build the pavement from start to finish, self-delivered and handed over complete.

  • Pre-milling, spreading, mixing
  • Compaction, trimming and rolling
  • Seal coat or asphalt
  • One contract, one site supervisor

Part-service

Plant and crew for the stabilisation step itself, working to your programme with your own resources alongside.

  • Stabiliser, spreader truck and water cart
  • Operators who know the plant
  • Your compaction, trimming and surfacing
  • The specialist step, on your dates

Cost efficiency

Same ground. Lower costs.

In-situ stabilisation reuses the material already in the ground, so there is no new material to import and no spoil to cart away. Less transport, less handling and a single mobilisation of plant make it a faster, more cost-effective way to rebuild a road.

Traditional approach

More transport. Higher costs. Longer program.

  • Import material

New gravel carted in from the quarry, load by load.

  • Export waste

The old pavement dug out and trucked away as spoil.

  • More plant and labour

Extra trucks, excavators and crew on site for longer.

  • Increased costs

Haulage, tipping and program time all add to the price.

In-situ stabilisation

Less movement. A smarter solution.

  • Reuse existing material

Stabilise on site, with nothing imported and nothing carted away.

  • Lower transport costs

Fewer truck movements, less haulage and less disruption to traffic.

  • Faster delivery

One pass of the recycler, compacted and back under traffic sooner.

Why a specialist

Why a stabilisation specialist for haul roads

Haul roads fail because they're built from what's on site and then hammered by 200-tonne trucks. Stabilising that material, rather than importing base or endlessly grading and watering, gives a running surface that holds under load, drains, and needs far less of the maintenance that keeps a grader tied up.

  • MDG15 compliant

Stabilisers, water carts, rollers and support plant, audited per machine on entry.

  • Built for haul loads

Running surfaces that carry haul truck loads without rutting or corrugation.

  • Minimal interruption

A stabilisation crew works in place, with no haulage of material in or out.

Get in touch
01What does MDG15 compliance involve on site?

MDG15 sets the design, fit-out and maintenance standard for mobile and transportable plant on NSW mines: fire suppression, isolation, access, lighting, communications, operator protection. Compliance is per machine and audited on entry. Accurate's stabilisers, water carts, rollers and support plant meet it. Crews hold the site inductions and the competencies. The ISO 45001 safety management system behind every Accurate job is the same one that carries onto a mine site.
